“My dogs don’t eat, bark, jump, bite, drool, or need to go out for a poop. They sit or stand ‘nicely’ all day long, you can come and go as you please without having to worry about them…”

Playful and imaginative, Agnetha’s exquisitely hand-crafted one-of-a-kind sculptures have proved as irresistible to art lovers as the dogs they represent are to pet lovers. While their shape, stance and attitude are completely true to life, Agnetha uses their surfaces to tell a vibrant series of stories, each one unique to its canine canvas.

Agnetha is building an enviable reputation for her distinctive sculptures, which have been featured in high-end magazines including Vogue, Elle and Design Week, as well as enchanting the audience when they made guests appearances at fashion shows in Moscow and New York City.

LOVED

They have made an impact at venues as varied as the Orange County Center for Contemporary Art in LA, Lane Crawford in Hong Kong, the Rosewood Hotel in London, Qingdao Sculpture Museum in China and even on the London Underground.

BRONZE

Since she was named on the Aesthetica Wish List alongside pieces by Stella McCartney, Louis Vuitton and Elin Høyland, Agnetha has become even more highly sought after and can be found in the collections of many famous many private collectors, including Angelina Jolie and Jude Law.

1ST EDITIONS

“I have almost forgotten that they’re dogs. To me, they become a three dimensional canvas that I appropriate in the way another artist would use a flat surface, and use as a means to tell my stories.”

COLOURFUL

“More than just luxury gadgets these objects enter the gallery space as the alter ego of famous artist Jeff Koons’ inflatable creatures. Nevertheless the place where we imagine them mostly is a domestic interior… Agnetha’s dogs demands someone to belong to.”

Biography below

ENGLISH:

Mønsted was born at Balle Mølle near Grenå, Denmark. He was the son of Otto Christian Mønsted and Thora Johanne Petrea Jorgensen. His father was a prosperous ship-builder. At an early age, he began receiving painting lessons at the art school in Aarhus. From 1875 to 1879, studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts with Niels Simonsen and Julius Exner. In 1878, Mønsted studied under the artist Peder Severin Krøyer In 1882, he spent some time in Rome and Capri then, the following year, visited Paris, where he worked in the studios of William Adolphe Bouguereau. He gradually developed a personal style of academic naturalism.

Mønsted was a habitual traveler. In 1889, he went to Algeria. Three years later, he travelled to Greece, where he was a guest of King George I who had been born a Danish prince. While there, he also did portraits of the Greek royal family. After that, he visited Egypt and Spain. During his later years, he spent a great deal of time in Switzerland and travelling throughout the Mediterranean. His travels produced numerous sketches that became paintings he presented at several international exhibitions. He was especially popular in Germany, where he held several shows at the Glaspalast in Munich.

Religious imagery fascinated and intrigued Dalí throughout his lifetime. For Dalí, angels expressed grace, nobility and lightness. Dalí once said “nothing is more stimulating than the idea of an angel!”. The face and trumpet in the sculpture, echo the Cubist style pioneered by Pablo Picasso, who Dalí admired. It is interesting that Cubism and Surrealism co-exist in this sculpture.

From the 1940s, when Dalí began weaving strong religious themes into his artworks, angels appear frequently in his oeuvre. Dalí rejected his family’s Catholicism early in life, only to re-embrace it again in later years. For Dalí, angels represented divine awareness, purity, protection and illumination. The key element of the sculpture is the trumpet, it links heaven and earth, bringing and reflecting divine light.

The angel’s wings are in perfect equilibrium, referencing Dalí’s obsession with geometrical precision. This sculpture embodies Dalí’s idea of heavenly achievement and aspiration.

Sergio Silva Cajahuaringa, is a Peruvian plastic artist who develops his work around abstract surrealism. Based in Lima, Peru, he has participated in innumerable individual exhibitions in Peru and across four continents, having been awarded in numerous opportunities.

Thanks to his contributions, he already occupies a privileged place in the new generations of artists who develop this area of plastic expression due to his talent and originality.

Silva Cajahuaringa is looking forward to displaying his work at the Mollbrinks Gallery as a symbol of opening to other cultures. The artist has noted that he feels that such exposure helps him to feed his mind and soul and this further translates into his future artworks. Few Peruvian painters have enjoyed such an exceptional journey as Silva Cajahuaringa. Due to his merits and awards obtained in Peru and abroad, he has become an outstanding artist for Contemporary Peruvian Art.

I have had the pleasure to promote and accompany the work of Sergio Silva Cajahuaringa the last 20 years in different countries and it is, once again, a pleasure to present to the Swedish art world this fantastic artist.
